Some of you backers know a lot more about bikes and upgrades that make sense. Can you help us others to figure out the advantages of these upgrades?
Half the weight... What is the standard weight and the saving?
Magnesium is known for being highly corrosive. Is this fork only an option for less rainy areas?
We got more info on the specs on Indiegogo comments from Younes:
- The oil fork weights 2.93 kg, The air magnesium weights 1.8 kg.
- It will be a magnesium/aluminium alloy.
- It will be not passivated, but all parts of the fork are treated with surface treatment and will not rust. They all passed the EN standard.
- The brand is MCX, but we wont be able to find further info on the net about this model because it is a custom one and they build this only for us.
Max said “the weight limit of the fork is 3-4 times more than the frame itself” FAQs say: The frame has been tested up to 265lbs.
So that is more than 750lbs!
Max on IGG comments:
One major bonus of an air fork is that you can adjust the air 'spring' to match your weight (and the trail conditions). If you are very light or very heavy then coil may not be for you. (from mtbr.com)
These are the latest pics supplied by the N-Team via IGG update. The magnesium fork is the one with the golden stanchions.
