The tires can be swapped out to whatever you like. The standard are the Continental ones as shown.
I personally will be swapping the front and rear out to the Panasonic Panaracer RiBMo ProTite 27.5" (650b) tires - part number AW650B38PS-RB-B2. Currently have the 26"x2" version of these on the commuter and they are excellent for the road. Puncture resistant and served me well for the past year - done close 2,200 km on them before changing out the rear tire. Honestly could have done several 100 km more as the tread on the rear tire was still good. The front tire hasn't been changed and think it can do at least another 1,000 km before considering to change it.
The good thing about the Panasonic tires is that they can be inflated up to 80 psi. These tires are high pressure road type, but suitable for MTB. That means less rolling resistance on the road compared to say 40 psi tires. This difference in pressure is very noticeable in leg effort.
